Music by: Minister Lamont O'Neil, Christian Cultural Center

Mr. O'Neil began his academic career in Brooklyn and has since traveled the world. After graduating from George Gershwin JHS 166, in East New York, Mr. O'Neil spent his high school years as a student at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. His taste for travel was stimulated when he participated in a study abroad program, which allowed him to live in Spain for one year. Mr. O’Neil’s learning grew with his travels and his studies. He majored in Philosophy and Hispanic Studies at Oberlin College and returned to live in Spain for another year prior to graduate studies at Penn State University, where he majored in Spanish Linguistics. While at Oberlin College, Lamont studied Jazz improvisation with Wendell Logan and Kenny Davis and was a vocalist for the Oberlin Jazz Ensemble. With a desire to give back to his community, Mr. O'Neil came full circle returning to Brooklyn to begin his career as an Educator at an alternative school across the street from his former Junior High School. When the principal of The East New York Family Academy moved on to JHS 231 in Queens, Mr. O’Neil followed and has been teaching there for the past 16 years. During this time, he began the all male step ministry of the Nubian Gents, which has expanded to include a female team, Feminine Fire. Mr. O’Neil has succeeded in instilling in these young men and women the same love for travel, exposing them to new levels of discipline and encouraging a love for life long learning. Lamont is a member of The Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn NY and serves as a praise and worship leader to its congregation.
